Skinny La Minx
I could not have written this any better in my own words, please read the creative process behind the new Diggi Dot Collection…
In 2014, Skinny laMinx designer Heather Moore was invited to teach a three day course in pattern design and generation to an international group, as part of a seven day experiential tour in Jaipur, India. The focus of the tour was traditional Indian block printing and dying techniques, and Heather’s role was to teach the group to design and create pattern, using linoleum printing blocks. She stayed in a charming old hotel called Diggi Palace, teaching in the shade at a leafy poolside courtyard.
While preparing for the trip, Heather did a lot of lino block printing in her studio, finding this method of generating pattern very exciting, because of the way the simplest shapes can generate endless combinations and variations, with just a shift of direction or colour.
Impressions of India
Heather had anticipated, upon her return, that she would create designs bursting with the vibrant aesthetic excesses generally associated with India, but instead, she found herself drawn to soft colours and delicate lines. This is what she wrote in her journal on the last day in Jaipur:
“I have come away with a sense of sweetness and calm beneath the clamour and chaos of the traffic. Delicate fabrics, the finest lines, the softest tones: My experience of India has been all about exquisite skill, craftsmanship and attention to the finest detail.”
The Diggi Dot Collection
The result is the Diggi Dot collection, where the simplest block printed motifs- a line, a half circle and a dot – combined with the fresh, light colours of Jaipur.
Incorporating Diggi Dot
Including Diggi Dot into the existing range of prints and palette has revealed lots of new & unexpected colour combinations, which Skinny laMinx is looking forward to sharing in the 2015/6 COLOUR BOOK.

I throughly enjoyed spending the morning at the studio, learning about the Diggi Dot process, meeting the team from the designers to the workers behind the scenes. What a beautiful space it is! I made my own bunting and had a look around the store while snapping photos to share with you all…
Cadbury’s Marvellous Creations Pop Up Store – JHB
For a limited time only, The World of Marvellous Creations Pop-Up Store in Sandton City, Johannesburg will be open to the public allowing them the opportunity to create their very own chocolate!
This magical store will be open to the public from 23 May to 21 June 2015, between 9:00 – 20:00, daily.
I had an amazing time at the launch as the store was opened and we began the creative process…
Start the adventure by purchasing a slab of Marvellous Creations chocolate, available at retail stores or from the pop up store at a RSP of R29,99. Each delicious slab will give two people entry into The World of Marvellous Creations.
Once inside, follow the Candy Trail to create your own Marvellous Creations treat. Simply choose your own magical mix of ingredients, mix it up in the Candy Joy Machine, then smother it with delicious melted Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate and top it off with a generous sprinkle of your very own Marvellous Candy Mix. Also, don’t forget to get your marvellous family portrait taken and shared via the Marvellous Photo Sharing machine.
Chocolate loving South Africans who are not able to visit The World of Marvellous Creations will have the chance to invent their own Marvellous Creations chocolate by sharing their favourite combination of ingredients on www.marvellouscreations.co.za from 21 May 2015. The person with the winning combination will win their own Marvellous Creations chocolate, made just for them by Cadbury Dairy Milk, to enjoy with family and friends.
The launch of Cadbury Dairy Milk Marvellous Creations is further supported by an integrated national campaign, including a new television commercial and impactful in-store executions that will interrupt shoppers with the ‘new news’ about South Africa’s most loved and trusted chocolate brand.
“We believe that Marvellous Creations will offer South Africans a new opportunity to share even more joyous family moments together” says Meredith Kelly, Mondelez SA Category Lead for Chocolate. “Not only through the larger-than-normal slab size, but also through its innovative and exciting combination of flavours!“
Look out for Cadbury Dairy Milk Marvellous Creations two exciting variants – Jelly Popping Candy (160g & 38g) and Cookie Gummy Crunch (160g) – available in stores nationwide from 1 May 2015 at an RSP of R7,99 (38gm) or R29,99 (160gm)
My favourite combination is the Jelly Popping Candy and it has been a favourite of mine for years. I was very excited to hear that it would be available in SA this month as in the past I would have to bribe my London friends to send me slabs to fix my craving every few months!
On the night of the event Zuraida Jardine was the MC who lead the queue of media through the Marvellous Creations store as they created their own slab of chocolate after watching a fabulous show by the Shoo Wop Shop ladies.
I attended a gorgeous, shimmering gold event with Bronx last week. It was filled with touches of gold, 4th street wine, candy floss topped with popping candy and delicious treats dusted with gold.
Bronx Woman is a fun and flirtatious shoe brand which celebrated their 10th Birthday as well as their AW15 collection.
Robynne Kahn from A Fashion friend said:
“The ‘FRow’, as we like to call it, always shows the latest, on-point footwear as donned by the industries top fashion editors, influencers and stylists. It becomes the line-up of footwear to covet. In a true essence of celebration, Bronx Woman claims their distinct ‘FRow Ready’ status through presenting the most desirable, on-trend and lux winter range yet!”
“Frow” is the title given to the front row at fashion shows and events, a place where everyone wants to be!
This season, the Bronx Woman team expanded and pushed the styling of their hugely popular boot, offering new details and silhouettes in the much loved style. The collection has something on offer for every kind of personality from the equestrian inspired riding boot to the stiletto heel or combat boot, their is something for everyone. Exciting new details and styles are available making this the brand’s most exciting boot portfolio to date – Platforms, wedges, zips, quilting and buckles all add to their exciting new AW range.
“High top Madeleine sneakers with stud detailing add an edge to casual days and classic Verona flats ooze Parisian sophistication. Wear the Fabiani to the office for a polished look or the Vixen for a night on the town. Block heels are given a double textured finish or metal detail for an extra pop.”
Below are a few pics I took of the event :

Thanks for a lovely evening Bronx Woman.

My favorites are the boots, far right. What are your favorites?
Last night I attended the Spree Autumn/Winter 2015 event which was held in the Cape Town CBD. I love the way Spree holds its launches – displaying models on platforms wearing their labels for the night. Having this approach and steering away from the typical runway show allows people to take their own time to look at each outfit, photograph it’s details, chat to the viewer next to them and discuss what they love – this concept is just amazing!
The event was spread over 3 floors – the ground floor showcasing the Spree Boutique and The Collective by Spree. The second and third floors were buzzing with those who were interested in the ladies clothing (2nd floor) and menswear (3rd floor).
What was your favourite item?
I recently attended the launch of the Ford Fusion in Cape Town. As you may know, I have a love for cars and enjoy photographing them (see VW Rally post 2013/2014). When I received the invite to this event I was extremely excited, not only to get to know a new car and test drive it but to see the Ford team again – what a stunning group of people they are!
We arrived at the Cape Town International Air Port early on a Tuesday morning and, after driving around and around to find the location, I was finally met with this gorgeous sight… Ford Fusions all lined up and ready to go!
After receiving our name tags, teaming up, and selecting a key, we walked down the row of cars clicking the unlock key to see which car lit up and would be our first car to test!
TammyB and I selected the 2.0 Eco Boost and hit the road – myself in the drivers’ seat and TammyB navigating!
We stopped a few times along the way to snap pics and catch up with others. Our main stop was Spice Route in Paarl, where we had a delicious, much needed lunch break.
We caught up with friends who had arrived from other cities and chatted about the Fusions and our experiences along the way.
Then it was time to go to 15 on Orange hotel in our 3rd and final car, rest and prepare for the dinner and the media talk which would answer all of our questions about the Fusion and it’s features.
We checked in to our hotel rooms and prepared for the red carpet arrival which Trevor Stuurman and I were photographing.
We were formally introduced to the Ford Fusion and it’s specs – I took photos of the information I was interested in so that I could share it with all of you!
After our talk we enjoyed a lovely dinner and brandy tasting…
In the morning we drove back to the air port (the perfect time to use the traffic assist feature and test it out) . TammyB and I decided we would pic our favorite colour this time as we had tried all of the cars already so we opted for the Ruby Red Fusion and headed back.
Although it was an amazing event and an experience I will never forget, it was great to test a car with so many user friendly features making driving not only comfortable and easy but safer for all on the road!! TammyB and I felt safe knowing that we had 7 air bags and pre-collision assist. It was easy to park using the park assist in the parallel or the perpendicular option and driving the planned route was a dream as the cars road sign recognition warned us of speed limit changes. Adaptive cruise control kept us at the perfect speed and lane keeping aid kept us within the lines of the road. With all of the technical features that this car has, it is no surprise that Ford has named this their flagship car.
A little while ago I attended the Spree Spring / Summer Lookboard 2014 event at the Brundyn Gallery in Cape Town.
Billabong – A bikini kind of life
I attended the Billabong – A bikini kind of life summer launch on behalf of Baked The Blog. The event was held at Muizenberg beach where we were able to view their new bikini range and snack on some freshly baked croissants at Knead.
I fell in love with their surf capsule wetsuits, best for warmer waters or Cape Town water in mid summer where one needs a little bit of warmth and not a full wetsuit. The new surf capsule wetsuits come in different styles, from shorts and a top, to a short wetsuit, short sleeve, long sleeve, stunning prints and colour ways – you have to check it out. If you are a regular surfer, Tanika Hoffman suggests one of these as you are able to move alot more freely and still be protected from the chill of the water.
The bikinis were impressive, providing a style and fabric type for anyone and everyone. I was drawn to the one above – cute florals with a little bow, well supported yet HOT! There were bootubes, croptops, prints, tie dye, florals and more.
After our briefing we received a bikini and towel and were suited up to have a surf lesson by the surf shack trainers.
We had tons of fun in the water, celebrating when one of us finally stood up on our boards. This event got me inspired to take my board out again and begin summer! Here are some pics from the event supplied by Billabong:
Thanks once again to the team for being so accommodating and allowing me to join in when I am usually on the sidelines capturing the event, you ROCK!
Last night I attended the Banana Peel Slip Slop launch in Hout Bay at Dunes restaurant – the perfect venue for a beachy island style event! The event was well attended with beautiful summer weather, R&R Jam Jars apon arrival, prizes and a fun interactive idea for retail research. We received “like” stickers as we arrived and were able to have a look at all of the slip slop styles and place stickers on the designs we loved. Please see below a few images from the night:
The Avant Garden
Last week I met with the Avant Garden team and chatted all things fashion and photography. I became a part of their family tree with no hesitation and joined them for their Secret Garden event last night where all of Cape Town’s top and emerging creatives came together and networked.
If you haven’t heard of the Avant Garden, you need to follow this link, buy tickets, bring friends; and join us for THE hottest fashion event this year. After hearing about what they have in store for September 13th you won’t want to miss out!
I will be style scouting at the event, there will be stalls, food, fashion, a live fashion shoot, a fashion show with an incredible runway and backdrop. The AFF team will be styling and assisting some of Cape Towns most talented designers, photographers will be exhibiting, chauffeurs will entertain you in the lift on your way to the event… follow the link to see more… I could go on forever!
Tickets can be booked here
Come and join us, support local, be inspired.
4th Street Wines
Last week I attended the 4th Street 50’s themed party. This was for the launch of their new 300ml bottled Lightly Sparkled wine. We had tons of fun at the event and were able to taste all three flavours, – sweet red, white and rose’ . The pink 50’s theme was strong throughout the event from the lighting & decor to the fashion and live band.
I tasted all three flavours and enjoyed the fruity sweetness of the white while watching The Shoo Wop Shops and snacking at the Sweet Sugar Shop. Have a look at the photos from the night and be sure to try this new product. For fellow wine-lovers like me, it is fresh, summery and perfect for a picnic or party where wine glasses are not the best option.
I also met and photographed Nomuzi Mabena who was visiting from JHB to MC for the night.

Inoar Extreme Premium Oil
Last week I represented Baked The Blog at the INOAR Extreme Premium Oil launch at the One & Only Hotel.
The theme for the day was gold, which made complete sense once we had arrived and been briefed about the product and seen the gold decor from balloons to gold leafed pastries. The product packaging is a beautiful gold, user-friedly bottle which was the cherry on the top to my understanding of the theme UNTIL I used the product for the first time on the weekend…
Not only does it smell absolutely amazing due to the mix of rose, macadamia, argan and Myrrh oils, it also leaves your hair healthy, non-greasy and happy. Gold in a bottle!
I was worried about the price (R545) but after talking to fellow bloggers and industry friends, I was told that the product lasts extremely long (more than 6 months depending on how you use it) and is in actual fact, a big saving! I used the product over the weekend and massaged the product into my roots right down to the tips of my hair, some people prefer to only use it on one or the other – it all depends on your hair’s condition.
For a more detailed description of the product and what is does, please see their website here.
Have a peek at the product and event below:
When Baked the Blog told me that we were invited to the Dune London SS14 event I was interested to see what location they would be using. (Being a photographer, location means EVERYTHING) The last event for AW14 was held at Casa Labia, which was a dream to attend as it was absolutely stunning to photograph and I live out of the CBD and very close to the venue. I couldn’t wait to find out if they would, once again, make me very happy to attend a venue a little way out of the CBD which is a great change to all of the regular CBD based events (and alot closer to home for me).
We were treated to coffees and canapes at Buitenverwagting, one of my favourite wine farms in Constantia. We enjoyed the warm living areas while catching up on fashion talk, viewing the Spring/Summer trends and being walked through all of their collections. Every collection was explained and we were able to understand why and how they decided on their colour ways and themes via the group talk and moodboards which were set out next to each installation. I fell in love with their pastel collection while photographing each detail of the event for Baked The Blog. What did you like most?

Last week I attended the Maaji Swimwear release of their Chimeric Wayfarer Collection. They introduced us to their summer range and gave us a map to follow and explore the event fully.
We were greeted with coconut water or champagne and lovely models wearing the brand. At each point on the map we were given little tasks to complete from hair styling, to a photobooth and a talk about their range.
Foxbox was there to spoil us with a signature nail using Toy Nail Colour. I opted for a simple nude nail and a small turquoise heart which matched my original nail colour perfectly!
Maaji is a Columbian lifestyle brand, with amazing printed swimwear and lingerie. The brand can be found in many stores in the Western Cape, Mpumalanga, Gauteng and Kwazulu-Natal. Visit their website for more info here
Below are a few snaps from the event:
Mercedes-Benz Bokeh Fashion Film Festival
I attended the BokehFFF Awards on the weekend and was lucky enough to attend as a guest as well as media which allowed me to enjoy the night AND take a few red carpet images of MY favourite outfits for the night…
The night began with some wine and snacks as we walked through all of the designers’ pop-up shops. One that caught by eye was Jagadi Couture, a locally made mens clothing and underwear brand. The attention to detail was impressive, from the actual designs to their packaging.
After some amazing fashion installations by brands such as Lalesso, David Tlale and more, Primi Piatti handed out pizzas and danced to the song “Happy-Pharrel Williams” before we all settled and watched 20 fashion films with short speeches from some of the directors inbetween.
My top 3 films were:
The winners of the BokehFFF were:
Best Actress – Alive with Kim Lysette
Best Actor – The Long Road (Un Largo Camino) with Oliver Baggerman
Best Hair – Quimera
Best Make-Up – Immortal Game
Best Fashion – Lovers Game
Best Visual Effects – Black Era – Court of the Ants
Best Art Direction – Arcade by Kirsten Goss
Best Cinematography – Pasos de Sirena by Manuel Portilla
Best Director – Alive by Samuel A. Martin
Best Picture – Urban Hippie by Damien Krisi
The Mercedes-Benz Award and US$ 5000 was awarded to Wonderlust by Ernst Heusser.
My two favourite outfits while style scouting were:
I was asked by the lovely 27 Pinkx ladies if I would photograph their event which was held at the One & Only Hotel. With no hesitation I said yes and was lucky enough to spend their special day WITH them as well as capturing and telling their story.
The event was well attended and I was completely sold by the end of the morning. The makeup organiser I received has been life changing and before I had even unwrapped it I was writing down a list of must-haves from their beauty range and makeup organiser range.
The name originated from a nickname (Pinky which became Pinkx) and a birthdate which, when combined, became a sentimental and catchy name.
Thanks ladies for a fantastic morning of tasty treats, fashion convos and great photos.
See more photos via their facebook page.
I was delighted to hear that the A/W 2014 Dune London event would be held at my favourite restaurant – Casa Labia and couldn’t wait to see what they had in store for us!
After talking fashion and viewing the new range I learned that they had their event at the chosen location for very specific reasons. Many were confused as to why the event was held “so far” and “on the other side of Cape Town” but Dune London wanted to give their SA customers the exact same quality and feel as the overseas launch. They searched for a location that was as close to the overseas event location as possible and even went as far as creating exact replicas of trees and installations so that we would be able to view their new range exactly as the overseas customers would.
I loved this idea, and it really made me appreciate the venue and winter range 10 times more! It was a beautiful, easy event to photograph and I have become to appreciate the tiniest things from these sorts of events from good lighting, to beautifully presented food; because, when all of these things are photographed and put together it really shows the efforts of the brand (and makes my job alot easier). In short, it is easy to create beautiful content from a beautiful event!
I enjoyed every moment of the event, from the nail bar, to the snacks as well as catching up with fashion folk; and even better; appreciating and photographing the new range!
Stella McCartney x Adidas
I recently covered an event at the One & Only Hotel for Baked The Blog where they introduced Stella McCartney’s new range to South Africa. Stella McCartney hasn’t been stocked in SA for quite some time now so Aisha and I were delighted when we heard we would be able to view her range in SA Stores soon!
Below are some sneak peeks as to what can be expected from her new range:
If anyone follows me on Instagram or knows me well, they will already be aware of my obsession with Wakaberry. Just when I thought I had tried all of their flavours, they introduced a few more for the summer season!
I was very excited when I got the invite to attend their #365DaysOfEndlessSummer event where we were able to try new flavours: Granana, Chocolate Malt and Plain Tarte. My favourite of the new flavours is Granana, a mix of granadilla and banana- I tend to favour the fruity flavours more!
We were greeted with healthy mocktails, a live band and a photobooth where we could take home our very own polaroid snaps. I also tried out their newly stocked vitamin water called Stream. Check out more info on this drink here.
Here are a few pics of the event:
Siki & I at the photobooth – credit: Wakaberry
Thank you for having me Wakaberry!
JT One Pop Up Shop
Aisha and I recently attended the JT One Pop-Up Shop launch at the V&A Waterfront. The pop-up store is going to be available for 3 months and is a shop-aholics dream! When we arrived we walked in to a cute, colourful store which had candyfloss and jars of sweeties in every corner! Have a look at the images I took of the event BUT be sure to see a more detailed post via Baked The Blog along with more of the images I took!
Cotton On Launch
I covered an event for Cotton On when they launched their brand new store in Stellies. It is by far one of the best stores I have shopped in and would seriously consider driving to Stellies just to shop there. The store has a ladies section downstairs and mens upstairs with a Vida E Caffe, yes, a Vida in the store!
They had Poppy and Pascal and Pearce djing while customers shopped and enjoyed the beats, coffee and cupcakes! Here are a few images of what the day entailed:
Magnum Pink/Black at Shimmy
I attended the Magnum event last week for Aisha as she could not go due to exams. It was a strickly pink/black themed event at Shimmy Beach Club with the most beautiful and carefully thought out decor. The MC for the day was Janez who had us all entertained while sipping cocktails and getting our nails done.
Please see a more detailed review on the day via Baked The Blog – I was just there to capture the day and have my weekly fix of the new Magnum flavours! I tend to have two each time because both are so delicious that I cannot choose and I end up buying both!
G-Star Ladies Night
G Star invited Team BTB to a ladies night to introduce us to their new range. Aisha enjoyed the nail & beauty bar and found out more about the new range while I snapped these pics of the night:
Portobello Road’s 1st Birthday
I attended Portobello Road‘s first Birthday last weekend and snapped a few pics of Jane’s special day at the store. Fun was had by all who attended (what could be more fun than shopping with a glass of champers and snacks on hand). Here are a few pics of the event:
I attended the SissyBoy Alchemy event with Aisha to cover everything from her outfit to the details of the event. When Aisha told me about their edgy invitation I was rather excited to see what they had in store for us at the event.
Apon arrival we were offered cocktails and mocktails as well as snacks which were all supplied in test-tubes and other lab themed packaging.
After catching up with the usual fashion friends and snapping a few pics of the event details we sat down and learnt all about the history of Sissyboy and info about some of their top selling denims.
They showed us how they make some of their denims which was very interesting and told us a few stories about how they created the first Jegging Jeans and created some of their top selling denims.
We then got a preview to some of their latest ranges…
The event was informative and, as a photographer I loved the location (Roodebloem Studios) as it was well lit and there was tons of opportunities for great images.
Aisha and I were invited to a Triumph media day along with Tgether girls Talya & Raya. It was held at the Clarendon Hotel in Bantry Bay where we were greeted with snacks, tea and a beautiful view. Please see the lookpost from this event with Aisha here.
Here are some images from our day where we learnt about the importance of wearing the correct bra size as well as the different types of bra’s Triumph caters for- for that info, I highly recommend reading up on what Aisha had to say here.
The launch of CSquared was a huge success and a fun night was had by all, here are a few pics from the night, please see Baked The Blog for the full review.
myself, Aisha & Sianna
Aisha & I attended the Superdry launch event at the V&A Waterfront a little while ago. We had lots of fun snapping pics with Trevor & Siki as well as having a look at the new store. I loved the layout of the store as well as the lighting (it was a dream to cover their launch with such interesting pieces to capture in the store.) Here are a few images to capture the night, a photo story:
Pulling faces with Aisha, Siki and Trevor.
(Thank you Aisha for the two images above)
Mama Mio at Langaro Lifestyle Studio
I attended an event, alongside Baked The Blog, at the Langaro Lifestyle Studio in Campsbay. Aisha and I were in heaven! The lifestyle studio has a spa, beauty salon, hair salon, yoga/fitness studio AND a fashion store- what more could you ask for?
The event was to introduce us to the lovely brand they supply called Mama Mio- the brand that kate Middleton has chosen to use during her pregnancy, hence the theme of the event “Royal Mamas”.
We were treated to a day filled with pampering, snacks and games and I found myself planning my next return before I had even left the event!
We were put in two different groups and unfortunately Aisha and I were separated so I had to run to her area every now and then and capture a few snaps of what she was up to. My group was selected to play games first and Aisha’s went for mani’s and pedi’s, later on in the morning we swapped and I was able to enjoy my coffee and (FAVOURITE) red velvet cupcake while having a mani.
Before Aisha and I left we received a lovely gift bag of product which I am going to blog about under my “fashion and beauty loves” as this product has seriously sold me and I cannot see myself using anything else, honestly!
What a stunning way to spend a rainy day indoors!
Last week I accompanied Baked the Blog to a lunch event with Luxottica at a stunning rooftop location.
We were surrounded by floating rows of sunglasses and great views while chatting and enjoying our 4 course lunch. Aisha and I had a great time learning about their new trends and tried on all of our favourite sunglasses. I am a Prada fan and fell in love with this work of art:
I also spotted the Pradas (left) I have had my eye on since last year, although I prefer them with the clear/silver Swarovski Crystals. Love love love!
We got treated to a pair of Vogue Eyewear sunnies which I adore!
I was a bit confused about what Luxottica is and I now understand that it is a sunglass and prescription eyewear distributor and supplies brands such as Prada, Dolce & Gabana, Rayban and Vogue Eyewear to name a few.
Aisha and I had so much to catch up on as this event was our first together since she took a break from Baked The Blog over exams- a lunch and chat was just what TeamBTB needed.
We couldn’t help but shoot a quick lookpost which you can view here.
Elle Rising Star 2013
I recently attended the Elle Rising Star Design Award blogger’s event on behalf of Baked the Blog at the lovely Westin Hotel. It was awesome chatting to familiar faces and meeting new photographers and industry insiders.
Elle Magazine has collaborated with Mr Price to bring you this amazing opportunity. Anyone may enter as long as you are over the age of 18 years and in your 3rd year of studies.
