Mossel Bay

Day 1: Road Trippin’ to Groot Brak

Over the long weekend we went on a little road trip up to Groot Brak which is just outside Mosselbaai.

I can’t believe I survived 4 days without any blogging, photography or internet but I did, and when I got back I had SO much to catch up on! I thought I would share my trip with you (in pictures) day by day as not many people are aware of this little town…

An evening arrival at “Joan’s Place” on Die Eiland had me out in the field for ages as I caught the last hour of sunlight catching dew on the grass, spider webs and pretty much anything I saw. Die Eiland is a little island in Groot Brak that has one single carriageway bridge allowing people on and off the island and has maybe less than 80 houses on it.

Day 2: Joan’s Place

Our first full day at Groot Brak was spent exploring the areas around it, starting at the shoe factory at Groot Brak and ending in Mosselbaai. I saw the strangest thing at the point in Mosselbaai, dassies and pigeons all roaming in the car park to beg for food from cars! When you park in the parking lot, all of the dassies come running to your car and stare at you with their cute twinkling eyes until you shoo them away, then their big yellow teeth come out!! Here are a few more images to tell a photo story of my day:

We ended day 2 off with a roaring fire watching 3 little ducks join us for a sun downer.
