Dyna & Andrian visit Cape Town

Dyna found me via instagram a few weeks ago and asked me to capture their stay in Cape Town. The couple were visiting for a short while all the way from Jakarta, Indonesia.

They asked for an iconic location – popular for tourists – and after our first location was moved twice due to weather and then construction work, we decided to go with Camps Bay. Dyna originally loved the giant glasses on the Sea Point promenade but the day before we were supposed to shoot, I saw that the instagram-worthy area was now a construction site – I immediately thought of Camps Bay which also has all of those wonderful art installations that would give us plenty of photo opportunities.

I also suggested Camps Bay because Dyna and Andrian would be treated to views of both Table Mountain AND Lion’s Head as well as the 12 Apostles and an opportunity for a gorgeous sunset shoot on the beach. I then suggested that the strip has many restaurants to enjoy dinner or drinks at after the shoot, making it a full Cape Town experience! How much better could the location get?!

On the day of our shoot it poured with rain (again!) but we both stayed confident in believing that the rain would clear just for us. Not only did it clear – literally just for the hour of our shoot – but it gave us the softest sunset light, with the most gloomy & dramatic sky as a back ground. We were so lucky! These are the images that resulted…

Thank you for allowing me to capture such special memories Dyna & Andrian! All the best for your wedding in July!
