Off to the ceremony we go!
Finally, it is time to share part 3 of our wedding day… the ceremony & couples photos — my FAVOURITE part!
Our ceremony was a small, intimate one held by our brother-in-law who had the honour of marrying us in front of our friends and family. We decided to officially get married in Cape Town 1 month before the wedding and then have a ceremony held by someone who knows us where we can say our vows and commitments witnessed by all our closest friends and family.
I walked down the aisle with both my Step Father and Father, one walking me half way and the other walking me the full way to the alter. I remember being so nervous as everyone looked for our arrival through the venue windows. I practically ran down the aisle! We chose an instrumental version of “Snow Patrol – Chasing Cars” and I remember the music building up as the bridesmaids walked…finally the bass began and I walked out – the was not a dry eye in sight! The music really does mean EVERYTHING when trying to set the scene.
After a short intro to the ceremony, we said our vows, I Do’s and exchanged rings — we were finally married!!!
We walked down the aisle as everyone threw bougainvillea confetti – it fell so beautifully, I just knew it’d look great in photos!
While we were at the ceremony and having wedding photos, Mary-Ann Art had set up and was painting our landscape, which we would pose for, a little while later….
The Bridal Party Photos

Finally, the couples photos. I wanted our couples photos to be taken in the brown fields… it was one of the main reasons why we chose our venue… so Lauren (our photographer) drove us to a beautiful location that had the rolling hills and pink sunset sky as our backdrop…
After running through the fields, we made our way to Mary-Ann Art where she had set up her easel and began to paint us into her scene. It was such a lovely memory to have (we have our canvas on our wall currently) and the guests absolutely loved spending time with her, watching the painting come to life. She took about 10 minutes to paint us until we left due to a light drizzle and a schedule that we had to keep to. Mary set up her easel in the reception and carried on painting the finishing touches while the guests watched and chatted to her — I highly recommend this!
Reception
Our reception was focused on great food (De Oudekraal completely out did themselves), good music, warmth and love. I used warm fairy lights and candles to create a romantic feel as well as gold finishes here and there to add a bit of sparkle to the evening.
Our first dance song was a rather old song that we both loved, so I asked Mischa Smith to stay a little longer after her reception entertainment in order to sing our first dance for us. She sang so beautifully that many people did not even realise we had a LIVE singer. She was absolutely amazing!!
After our first dance, we popped a confetti bomb and got the party started!

Thanks to all who made our day the most exciting, memorable & special day so far.
