Heather and Tim’s rustic DIY wedding was set in the Cederberg Mountains just outside Citrusdal. I arrived at the venue while the family was setting up the decor and venue which gave me a chance to see the before and after process. The family did an amazing job at making sure everything was absolutely perfect before Heather and Tim arrived at the reception that afternoon…
Heather and Tim prepared for the wedding in Citrusdal which was only 10 mins away from the venue, my assistant and I visited them to capture the process.
Heather arrived at the ceremony in a Pontiac which parked right behind the final row of guests while Tim waited for his beautiful bride to meet him at the alter. The ceremony was set below a mountain range, alongside a river which kept the guests busy that day. People swam, fished and enjoyed the views before the couples “big” day – I really loved this about the venue.
After the ceremony the guests enjoyed a market style bar & snacks area while we went off to capture my favourite part of the day – couples photos and bridal party photos! Heather made her bridesmaids dresses which complimented the venue backdrop of a rustic burnt mountain, contrasting a beautiful blue river and green citrus orchids. The groomsmen wore matching bow ties which made for a fun but smart feel.
After the bridal party photos we made our way to the orchards and this is where the magic began… I must thank Heather and Tim for being such an amazing couple when is came to photos. They were so natural and simply enjoyed the moment and allowed me to capture it. I do believe my complimentary couples shoot prior to the wedding helped! Well done you two!
The venue layout was carefully planned to allow people to enjoy different spaces such as the Photo Booth, bar, spit braai, food truck, reception area and games area. Fairy lights lined the dance floor and directed the guests to the coffee & tea truck as well as the bustling bar/photo booth area. Hay bales surrounded the dance floor and jenga blocks…
Congrats on your special day Heather & Tim. I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting up and discussing the wedding over the past year and I was honored to capture your unforgettable day.
