Essilor, a top optical brand, brought out a new lens which meets the visual needs due to our increased use of digital screens. Essilor called this new lens – Eyezen. Before you decide this blog post is not of interest to you, answer these questions & if you answer “yes” to any one of these, you need to read on:

With myself having 20/20 vision I never thought about getting glasses. My eyes are perfect at the moment so why bother? Well, Eyezen has come out with a lens that protects your eyes from future degeneration – and I had to jump on board.

Studies have shown that the average person spends about 7 hours looking at digital screens per day and this new lifestyle is affecting our health. It is affecting our posture as well as our eyes and Eyezen has given us the chance to prevent this.

The lens has 3 major properties:

1. Wave technology – for sharper vision so that your eyes do not strain to see clearly on the screen
2. Protection against harmful blue light – blue light given off by screens is extremely harmful to your eyes & is the cause of headaches and tired eyes

I’m not one for stats and facts but this really shocked me and I could totally relate to the statistics. I suffer from back, neck and shoulder pain from looking down at screens all day, I take a 30 minute nap in the afternoon (when I can) due to tired eyes and a headache from editing – this information both shocked me and motivated me to look after my eyes.
